River Day 2008 Clean Up
From Troy’s Community Affairs Department…
River Day, the annual celebration of the Clinton River’s fantastic resources, has been set for Saturday, June 7 from 9 am-1 pm at Jaycee Park, on Long Lake between Rochester and John R. The City is continuing its tradition of helpful activities for adult and student volunteers who want to maintain and improve the natural balance of the Clinton River.
Be sure to wear your yard work clothes! Participants will be putting in native plants along the streambank, removing invasive species, performing woody debris management, picking up litter and more. A free barbecue lunch will be served to all volunteers.
“Taking part in River Day gives us all the opportunity to make a small difference in our local ecosystem which improves the overall health of the environment,” Jennifer Lawson, the City’s Environmental Specialist, said.
The Community Center is located at 3179 Livernois. Volunteers should park register at the picnic shelter in the back of the park. Register by calling Jennifer Lawson at 248.524.3381.
