Obama’s former pastor will be keynote speaker at NAACP dinner
According today’s Detroit News…
The Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright, the controversial former pastor to presidential candidate Barack Obama, was named this morning as the keynote speaker for the NAACP Detroit branch’s 53rd annual Fight for Freedom Fund Dinner.
The article quotes Detroit NAACP president The Rev. Wendell Anthony…
“Rev. Wright has challenged the nation, challenged our comfort zone and stimulated nation-wide discussions on the issues of how we must move forward together as both a nation and a people. We look forward to his participation here in the city of Detroit.”
Considering everything else that’s gone on in Detroit this year, should we be surprised by this?

Dave,
Thanks for including the ability to comment on the new version of your blog. It makes for a more open and honest discussion of the issues that face Troy and this nation.
To that end, I’m trying to figure out what is the point of this post? I’ve read it over and over and can’t figure out what you’re trying to infer. My guess is that you’re trying to say that there is something wrong with the Barack Obama and the NAACP due to their respsective “associations” with Rev. Wright. Do you believe that Sen. Obama and the members of the NAACP all hate America? Do you believe that Sen. Obama and members of the NAACP are racists?
Your statement, “[c]onsidering everything else that’s gone on in Detroit this year, should we be surprised by this?” is even more puzzling. Are you talking about the text message scandal with Kwame Kilpatrick? What does this have to do with Barack Obama, the NAACP, or Rev. Wright? The only link that I can find is skin color or perhaps, party affiliation.
But while you’re on the subject of presidential candidates and the pastors that support them, don’t forget to mention the support of John McCain by Pastor John Hagee. McCain actively sought the endorsement of Pastor Hagee despite his anti-Catholic comments, which are well documented by Bill Donahue of the Catholic League.
