N/B I-75 near Crooks, 3/27, 2006 hrs.
Officer ran the plate of a ’03 Dodge Intrepid after observing a traffic violation. The vehicle came back stolen out of Detroit. The car was stopped. There was steering column damage visible. The 22 year old male from Pontiac claimed he bought the car from a friend of his cousin’s in Detroit for $1200.00. He stated the seller showed him a registration and insurance certificate. The driver had no title. There was a key in the ignition, but it was suspected it may have worked due to the damaged steering column. The driver’s license was suspended and he had several warrants for his arrest from other jurisdictions. He was arrested. 08-10869
Oakland Mall, 412 W. 14 Mile, 3/27, 1900-2015 hrs.
An 18 year old female complainant from Troy reported she came to the American Fun Center at the mall with some friends and set her car key/key fob next to a video game and placed her coat over them. When she went to leave, she picked up her coat and discovered the car keys gone. When she went outside to the lot, she discovered her ’03 Ford Mustang gone. Her wallet, $30.00 in cash, and an iPod were inside the car. 08-10872
Bailey’s, 1965 W. Maple, 3/29-3/30, 1430-1300 hrs.
Complainant claimed his ’01 Audi A8 was at one of the dealerships in the Motor Mall at Maple and Maplelawn for repairs. When the repairs were completed, he stated he didn’t want to leave the vehicle in the dealership lot so picked it up and left it in the shopping plaza lot across Maple. When he returned later for it, he claimed it was gone. A check on the plate revealed it was queried by the Arson Unit in Detroit. Complainant told the Troy investigating officer he needed to sell the car due to his father being unemployed. Investigation continues. 08-11217
Woodside Trail, 3/28-3/29, 2230-0630 hrs.
’01 Dodge Ram reported stolen from apartment complex car port. While the officer was taking the report, a resident from a nearby street called to report an unoccupied Dodge Ram was left still running on his front lawn. Officers went there and confirmed it was the complainant’s vehicle. The door lock and steering column were punched. 08-11068
Woodside Trail, 3/28, 0734 hrs.
Complainant stated he started his ’96 Toyota Avalon and left it running to warm up in the apartment complex lot. When he came back out, it was gone. 08-10935

’98 Acura Integra parked in apartment complex lot had steering column cracked open in an unsuccessful attempt to steal it. 08-10950

Troy Officers responded to four incidents involving family troubles/domestic disputes where investigation revealed no assaults or other crimes occurred, therefore no formal enforcement action was taken.

Kohl’s, 1265 Coolidge, 3/26 and 3/27
LPO reported after detecting shortages from cash drawers associated with a 44 year old female cashier from Royal Oak, they began an investigation. On 3/26 they observed the subject conceal a $50.00 bill in her pocket from one cash register, and then two $100.00 bills from another cash register. On 3/27 they observed her pocket a $100.00 bill handed to her from a customer during a cash sale she was ringing up. Responding officers identified the suspect and released her pending prosecution. 08-10853
Macy’s, Oakland Mall, 500 W. 14 Mile, 3/28, 1215 hrs.
LPO observed a 48 year old female employee while inside a stock room place seven items of miscellaneous clothing with a total value of $310.40 into her purse. LPO stopped her as she exited the store with out paying. She apparently admitted to stealing approximately $3900.00 worth of additional store merchandise prior to this theft. She was arrested. 08-10955
Home Invasions:
Breeze Hill, 3/28-3/29, 1900-1445 hrs.
Complainant reported she and her husband left at approximately 1900 hrs. on 3/28. She stated she noticed three males and one female, in their mid to late teens, standing approximately 25 feet from the porch as they left. When they returned at 2200 hrs. they did not notice anything out of order. She stated they didn’t hear anything unusual throughout the night, however the next day noticed the screen on the window leading into the basement from a window well had been damaged and removed from the frame. There were muddy footprints on the window where someone made an unsuccessful attempt to kick the window in. Investigating officers noticed the screen on the basement window in the window well at the condo next to complainant’s was removed and the window open. Officers checked the condo and noted the basement had laundry detergent spilled on the walls and floors and the basement walls were written all over. Officers discovered a third basement window screen in a window well removed from another nearby condo, but it did not appear entry was made. 08-11073
Breeze Hill, 3/28-3/29, Unknown-0130 hrs.
Complainant discovered the kitchen window on her condo broken out. No entry was made.

Brentwood, 3/28, 1930-2245 hrs.
Complainant reported when he returned home to his condo he noticed the basement grate leading down into the basement window well had been removed. When he checked, he noticed the window open. Officers checked the residence with complainant and nothing appeared missing; it is possible suspects did not enter. (Same condo complex as above incidents.) 08-11043

Troy Community Center, 3179 Livernois, 3/26, 1845-2115 hrs.
Complainant reported she left her iPod on the bleachers in the gym while she played volley ball. When she returned, it was gone. The investigation revealed a subject was observed on video taking it. He was recognized as a 14 year old male from Troy by witnesses. When officers went to his house to question him about it, he initially denied taking it. When it was pointed out he was captured on video stealing it, he produced the iPod from his pants pocket and turned it over to the officers. His father who was present was cooperative with investigating officers. The iPod was returned to the complainant; unknown if there will be charges yet. 08-10766

Complainant reported she left her purse under her coat in a room while she attended a fashion show. When she returned, the purse was gone. 08-11000
Golfsmith, 288 John R, 3/30, 1200-1619 hrs.
Complainant left his wallet in his coat pocket which was hanging behind the counter while he worked. He discovered his wallet missing and a fraudulent purchase against one of his credit cards.

Manager reported a W/M, approximately 21 years old was observed picking up a pair of $310.00 Prada sunglasses and walking out w/out paying. 08-10871
Burberry Store, Somerset Collection, 2801 W. Big Beaver, 3/15, 1529 hrs.
Manager reported discovering four handbags and a scarf stolen with a total value of $5785.00.

Victoria’s Secret, Oakland Mall, 412 W. 14 Mile, 3/30, 1715 hrs.
LPO reported observing two females and a male enter the store he recognized as matching the description of a retail fraud crew that had been victimizing area Victoria’s Secret stores. The group approached a bank of drawers that contained women’s underwear. The male was observed stooping down behind the drawers as the females attempted to shield him from view. The LPO was able to observe him removing handfuls of women’s underwear from the drawers and stuffing them into a large white shopping bag. The LPO yelled at the male to stop and tried to approach him, but the two females took up positions between the male suspect and the LPO, blocking his access to him. They proceeded to physically block his attempts to grab the shopping bag full of merchandise with their bodies. One of the females had a black plastic shopping bag in her hand. As the LPO made another attempt to grab the shopping bag full of underwear, she again tried to block his access to it. As she did, he was able to grab the plastic bag from her. Both females continued to block his efforts to take possession of the bag of underwear, yelling at him in Spanish as he did. All three eventually fled the store, leaving the shopping bag full of underwear behind. The LPO was able to catch and detain the female from whom he grabbed the black plastic shopping bag. It contained 25 Victoria’s Secret lip gloss tubes with a total value of $175.00. 170 pair of underwear valued at $1380.00 were recovered from the original shopping bag. The female was arrested. She provided a Puerto Rican ID card that appears fraudulent. A search for the other suspects proved negative. 08-11219
Express, Oakland Mall, 330 W. 14 Mile, 3/29, 2010-2030 hrs.
Manager reported 171 shirts with an approximate value of $4700.00 were discovered stolen from two display tables inside the store. Witness information revealed a 2005-2006 white Yukon or Tahoe and a dark colored, older model SUV, possibly a Ford, were observed in the parking lot with three Hispanic females and two Hispanic males moving several bags stuffed with merchandise from one vehicle to the other. The bags were described as older Victoria’s Secret bags and white shopping bags. Additional information was obtained by investigating officers wherein a Hispanic male was observed exiting the Express store between 2010 and 2030 hrs. carrying a white shopping bag full of merchandise. He exited the mall via the main south entrance. Shortly thereafter, a second Hispanic male exited the Express store with a large white shopping bag full of merchandise followed by two Hispanic females. All three also exited the mall via the main south entrance. 08-11192
Limited, Oakland Mall, 412 W. 14 Mile, 3/29, 1926-1936 hrs.
Manager reported discovering 51 shirts with an approximate value of $2524.00 stolen from a display. 08-11137
Robberies:
Chili’s, Oakland Mall, 402 W. 14 Mile, 3/29, 0028 hrs.
A 26 year old female from Waterford reported that while walking from the restaurant to her car in the lot she was approached by a male who inquired if the restaurant was closed. She told him it was, at which point she stated he grabbed her and demanded she give him her purse. She stated she tried to hold onto her purse with both hands and during the ensuing struggle fell to the ground with the suspect landing on top of her. She stated the suspect punched her and continued demanding she release her purse to him. She stated she attempted to dial 911 on her cell, at which point the suspect got up and yelled “Go! Go! Go!” to the driver of a small white older 93-94 vehicle parked nearby. The driver of the vehicle drove toward them and the suspect got into the passenger side door. The vehicle was last seen leaving the area E/B toward John R. The victim ran back inside the restaurant. The suspect did not get her purse. Suspect: W/M, early 20’s, 6-0, thin, clean shaven with a long face, wearing a black and white bandana on his head, a white hooded pullover, and blue jeans. A composite sketch is attached. It should be noted that although there is no evidence the male suspected of driving the get away car in the Troy purse snatch incident re-printed below (*) from 3/21, he is still out. Troy and other jurisdictions have warrants for his arrest related to other cases than the purse snatch. Troy has submitted a warrant request for Fleeing and Eluding Police in this case. *Aldi Foods, 2976 E. Big Beaver, 3/21, 0957 hrs.
A 53 year old female complainant from Warren reported she was approached while sitting in her car by a female subject who claimed she had locked her keys in her car and asked if she could use complainant’s cell phone to get help. As complainant pushed in the number the subject provided, the suspect reached into complainant’s open passenger side window and snatched her purse. Complainant yelled to a passerby in the lot that the suspect just stole her purse. The passerby followed the suspect vehicle, a green ’98 Ford Explorer, and provided the license plate information to Troy dispatch via cell phone. Responding officers located it near Sparta and Big Beaver. It was being driven by a male. The Explorer fled and escaped as they approached/attempted to stop it. Investigators identified the driver as a 27 year old male from Birmingham and the female that took the purse as a 27 year old from Port Huron. Madison Hgts. PD contacted Troy PD on 3/24 advising they located and stopped the suspect vehicle in the area of Concord and 14 Mile. The female was driving and was arrested. The male managed to escape on foot. 08-10293
