Breaking and Entries:
Troy Union School, 1340 E. Square Lake, 3/26, 2320 hrs.
Officers responding to an alarm observed lights on and a male wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and blue rubber gloves sitting in front of a safe in the school office. He was joined there by a second male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black gloves. The first male proceeded to try to open several cabinets in the office. They moved on to the Teacher’s Lounge. Officers entered the building, proceeded to the lounge, and took both suspects into custody. Investigation revealed they entered the school via a roof hatch. Two flashlights were recovered from the Teacher’s Lounge where the suspects were arrested. Officers recovered a walkie-talkie radio from the office in one of the suspect’s pockets along with two sets of school keys. They recovered a set of school keys in the other suspect’s pocket. The suspects told officers they picked up the keys once inside the school, but were unsure what they were for. The 16 year old male from Shelby Township was transported to the station where juvenile petitions for breaking and entry were initiated against him and he was TOT his parents. His 17 year old male associate from Troy was arrested and held pending arraignment for B & E. 08-10778
Crash Investigations:
Credit, Check, Identity Theft, and other Fraud:
Complainant reported his wife took out a loan in the amount of $14,000.00. His wife reportedly gave the check to a female who reportedly represented she worked for some mortgage company and was supposed to use it to help complainant and his wife buy a house. Apparently the money is gone and there is no information regarding a house. The name provided by the complainant for the female that was supposed to be helping them comes back no record. The name of the mortgage company complainant stated the subject provided him appears non-existent. The phone number comes back to some kind of recruiting center. 08-10619
A 68 year old female from Troy reported receiving a letter notifying her she won $40,000 cash and a trip. A check for $2850.00 accompanied the letter with instructions to deposit it and send $2500.00 of it to an address in Canada to cover processing fees associated with her prize. She deposited the check, sent her own check in the amount of $2500.00 as directed, only to find out after the fact the original check was counterfeit. She also discovered someone used the account information on her personal check to make a fraudulent withdrawal from her bank account in the amount of $1000.00. 08-10623
JC Penney, Oakland Mall, 700 W. 14 Mile, 3/26, 1730 hrs.
LPO’s reported a female subject was in the credit department attempting to obtain a temporary charge card using a credit account number she represented belonged to her fiancé. When the number was entered into the computer, it came back as a blocked account. The female left only to return ten minutes later with a different credit account number trying the same thing. LPO’s were able to identify the true account holder from Ohio who verified the attempt was a fraud. Police were called and the suspect fled, leaving her Michigan ID card behind. Responding officers observed her enter the passenger side of a ’00 beige Jaguar which immediately drove away. Officers were able to catch up and stop it on 14 Mile. The 37 year old female driver from Detroit was arrested for driving on a suspended license. The 43 year old female passenger from Detroit who had been attempting the credit fraud claimed she obtained the account information from a guy she met in a club and was trying to get her name on the account. Officers recovered paperwork in her purse listing the personal information of the true account holder from Ohio. She was arrested for credit fraud. 08-10741

Troy Officers responded to two incidents involving family troubles/domestic disputes where investigation revealed no assaults or other crimes occurred, therefore no formal enforcement action was taken.

Macy’s, Somerset Collection, 2750 W. Big Beaver, 2/5-3/13
LPO came to the station to initiate an embezzlement complaint against a 44 year old male former cashier from Detroit who rang up 40% unauthorized discounts on two separate occasions, rang up three fraudulent refunds placing the refunded amounts on a gift card he had in his possession on three separate occasions, and rang a fraudulent return crediting the refund amount to his own Macy’s account. Total fraud approximately $700.00. Prosecution pending. 08-10498

’07 Toyota Corolla entered and Garmin GPS unit stolen from center console; the mounting bracket was stolen from the dashboard. No sign of forced entry. 08-10762
Malicious Destruction of Property:

A ’06 Honda Civic and ’08 Ford Escape parked in lot, had rear windows shot/shattered. 08-10791

12 vehicles parked on listed streets had windows shot out with a pellet/BB gun:

Retail Fraud:
Michael Kors, Somerset Collection, 2800 W. Big Beaver, 3/15, 1354 hrs.
Two males entered the store, one held a shopping bag open while the other stuffed a $1695.00 Manner purse into it. They proceeded to another area of the store where one of the suspects stuffed a $1595.00 Montgomery purse into the shopping bag while the other held it open. As they left, the alarms sounded. Suspects may have had assistance from others working with them that distracted sales clerks while the purses were concealed and stolen. Suspect #1: B/M, mid 20’s #2: B/M, mid 20’s, wearing a long tan trench coat. 08-10595
