Drunk/Intoxicated Driving Incidents of Interest:

Dequindre and 14 Mile, 3/21, 0930 hrs.
Complainants reported a ’96 Olds LSS came to a stop against a parked car in the parking lot of a restaurant.  The male driver/lone occupant was found passed out behind the wheel by witnesses.  The vehicle description matched a report of a possible drunk driver called in to Troy dispatch shortly before the crash by a cell phone caller.  Witnesses reported the doors were locked and windows were up.  After pounding on the windows and managing to wake the driver up, witness reported he placed the car in reverse and tried to drive off.  A bystander began pounding on the door window at which point the driver opened the door.  The bystander managed to get the car in park and the ignition turned off.   Responding officers noted the driver smelled of intoxicants and was unsteady on his feet, requiring assistance to prevent him from loosing his balance and falling down.  He could not perform sobriety tests.   He blew .31 on a PBT and the 42 year old male from Sterling Hgts. was arrested.  He kept passing out and could not stand up. He was transported to the hospital for detox and a search warrant from his blood was obtained.  Toxicology is pending.  08-10152

Rochester and Long Lake, 3/25, 0123 hrs.
Cell phone caller reported a ’94 green and brown Mercury mini-van was weaving all over the road.  A responding officer located it N/B on Rochester S/O Long Lake, made similar observations, and stopped it.  The male driver/lone occupant denied drinking in spite of officers smelling the odor of intoxicants coming from his breath.  The driver advised he had taken a Xanax for a medical condition.  A small baggie of marijuana was recovered from his pocket.  He stated he smoked some a couple hours earlier.  He indicated there was another small baggie in the van.  That was located and recovered from the front seat.  He was unsteady on his feet, had slurred speech, and failed sobriety tests, but only blew .02 on a PBT.  His license was found to be suspended.  The 25 year old male from Dearborn was arrested.  He refused to take a blood test so a search warrant was obtained.  Toxicology is pending.  08-10560
